The Presidential Advisory Office, under the leadership of the Minister Advisor of the Presidency, is in charge of the interinstitutional coordination of the State in order to accomplish the goals and objectives drawn by the National Government. As well, it provides the President with the necessary information to undertake important decisions.

Since 2002, the tasks assigned by the President to the Minister Advisor, has in turn, strengthen the structure and knowledge of the Colombian State, resulting in a better coordination and compilation of the information of the governments’ main programs and actions.  This office generates better and more productive decision-making encounters such as the Counsel of Ministers and the Executive Controls.

The Presidential Advisory Office roles include, among others, to advise the President on economic matters and provide him with the financial information relevant for government decision-making. Also, the Office prepares daily financial reports used by the President to reflect and discuss on current economic matters.

Another role this Office plays is that of coordinating and conducting the Council of Ministers. The Presidential Advisory Office prepares and carries out the Secretariat of this Council, guides the contents discussed during the sessions, guides the necessary preparatory meetings in order to organize the presentations, prepares and files the official acts of the Council of Ministers sessions and follows up on the commitment each Ministry incurs in.

One of the main objectives of this Government it to accomplish the goals set at the beginning of the administration. In order to achieve this, the Presidential Advisory Office is in charge of the supervision and control of actions and routes taken reach each goal. It maintains clear and prompt information on the results or problems that could eventually affect the compliance of any goal, for which the Presidential Advisory Office performs Executive Controls with the participation of the different Ministries, Administrative Departments and National Entities responsible for Government’s programs and actions.

Another important role this office plays is that of serving as a connection between the Government and industries and business of the Colombian Private Sector, directing the problems and requirements to the State agencies. Finally, the Presidential Advisory Office monitors specific topics assigned by the President of the Republic himself.
